[] "I'm wondering whether anyone might care to speculate on why Toshiba seems to think they can charge $1000's for extra memory on this machine? I don't know about any of you, but the convenience of a user-installable credit-card memory system sure isn't worth that kind of money to me. Is there a chance that third parties might offer compatible expansion memory or is this technology proprietary to Toshiba?" I checked into this. Here are prices for T2000SX "credit card" memory expansions, manufactured by Kingston, offered by Sigma Data, phone (800) 446-4525: 1 meg $ 200 2 meg $ 300 4 meg $ 650 8 meg $1300 You can only put one card into a T2000SX, so, if you're ever going to want 8M, you don't ever want to buy 1M, 2M, or 4M -- you'll still have to buy the 8M card to get a total expansion of 8M. This is only one data point. Other mail order houses may have lower prices. I have purchased memory from Sigma Data once and was satisfied. -=- Andrew Klossner (uunet!tektronix!frip.WV.TEK!andrew) [UUCP] (andrew%frip.wv.tek.com@relay.cs.net) [ARPA]
