This may be obvious but I just thought I'd let people know that it is quite reasonable to run certain Windows apps on a T1000SE. Of course it is much easier on a T1000SE that has the full 3Mb of RAM, 2.4Mb for a ramdisk. I needed to design some architectural drawings while on the road and was happy to find that Micrografix Designer (2.?) runs perfectly fine, with Windows (2.1) on the T1000SE. Response time is very acceptable as long as you put everything on the ramdisk. If you run it partially or totally off the floppy, it still isn't too bad. I found that Windows (2.1) with most of the standard apps (Write, Terminal, Calendar, etc.) and Designer all fit within about 1.7Mb of ramdisk. The 640x400 resolution of the T1000SE is pretty close to a standard VGA screen and is okay for most drawings (although I'd rather have 1024x768). I've also fit Excel (2.?) on the T1000SE with good results. I haven't tried using Windows 3.0 on the T1000SE. It is bigger than 2.1 and although prettier, is probably not worth it. The T1000SE can't provide extending memory anyways. Cheers, Dan Ts'o 212-570-7671 Dept.
