[comp.sys.laptops] More on that TI TravelMate 2000...

fuka@spectre.unm.edu (Mary Fuka) (05/28/91)

I received so many responses on that TI TravelMate 2000 posting, that I
thought a followup summation would be in order--Thanks everyone for the help!

First, it was NOT the TM2000, but the TravelMate LT286/Model 12. As far as
I can tell, the general capabilities are the same but the LT286, at 6.7lbs
is a bit heavier, and not so sexy-sleek looking. But hey, for the extra
$600-900, I can cover my gym fees for years. Same 8 1/2x11 footprint, but
thicker than the 2000. Anyway, after I received the postings and looked
in a Cmputer Shopper, I decided it was a pretty good deal for a 286/12Mhz
laptop with floppy drive and 1MByte RAM, headed back to BizMart and bought
*THE LAST ONE* at $999.99--apparently they were closing out the line.

Sorry about the mistaken ID on the system. The less-than -knowledgeable
sales clerk handed me the wrong literature. For all of you who were interested
in buying one, as I said I got the last one. BUT Bizmart is, I believe, a
multi-city chain, so perhaps they are closing out elsewhere, too. The
Albuquerque number is 505-889-9696, if any of you are still interested in the
LT286 rather than the TravleMate 2000. Their price on the TM2000 and TM3000
was nothing to get excited about, by the way--I saw those systems a lot
cheaper by mail order.

Thanks again for all the help--I'm terribly excited about my newfound ability
to write reports, proposals, run the occasional calculation, etc., whilst
away from the SunSparc and PC's (Reports? Proposals? On vacation? Oh, yeah,
this WAS a smart idea :-) !)
