I just spent six hours flying from the left coast to the right coast yesterday, with my laptop under the seat and (at various times) my 3-year old and my 5-year old sitting next to me. Somewhere over Kansas I realized that, had I brought along some appropriate software, I could have used the laptop to help entertain the kids (My 3-year old has an attention span of about 45 seconds). So, I'd like to ask for recommendations - what could I run on a T1000 that youngsters might enjoy? The lack of a mouse and the T1000 screen will likely preclude interactive shoot-em-up games. By the time I travel with the kids again, they will both likely be reading, so educational, text-based programs would be OK. BTW: Honest, this *truly* is for the kids. I'd never think about entertaining myself with a game or two while travelling :-). -- - Ralph Droms Computer Science Department droms@bucknell.edu 323 Dana Engineering Bucknell University (717) 524-1145 Lewisburg, PA 17837

A portable game system, such as the Nintendo Game Boy or Atari Lynx, might be a better choice. They are more portable, have better displays, and don't cost a lot of money. Of course, you might be hard pressed finding educational software instead of video games, but if all you want to do is keep your child occupied on a long plane flight that doesn't seem to be much of an issue. -- __ \/ Michael Portuesi Silicon Graphics, Inc. portuesi@sgi.com
