[comp.sys.laptops] DOS5.0 on a T1000SE

dc@uts.amdahl.com (Dennis Chapman) (06/12/91)

I see that DOS5.0 is available now. I was wondering if anyone knows if it's
possible to use it on a T1000SE. Without a rom update, I would guess that the
os and binaries would reside on either a floppy or the ram disk. Is Toshiba
going to make rom updates available? Any comments?

Thanks,

The primary advantages of DOS5.0 relate to its use of extended memory
on 286 machines (HMA) and 386 machines (Loadhi).

Since the T1000SE doesn't have extended memory, the value of a larger,
neater operating system is questionable.

Actually I'd like to see a rom upgrade to include DOS 5.x on the T1000SE.
Anyone heard anything?
