[comp.sys.laptops] PC BRAND note book computer

garret@itx.isc.com (Garret G) (06/26/91)

Greetings Laptop People:

I am looking at buying a PC BRAND notebook PC.
Their notebooks are pretty new on the market so I haven't
heard much about them.

If you have any news about these computers or the
company in general - please inform.

Thanks!

I may be mistaken, but the PC-Brand notebook looks identical to the
DataWorld and Tandon machines. Same specs, too; up to 16 MB RAM,
3-slot expansion chassis, same number and kinds of interfaces, same
keyboard layout, etc. When I purchased my DataWorld (which I've been
relatively happy with), I asked the salesman about the similarities
between it and the Tandon and he indicated that Tandon had copied
DataWorld's design. Now that another twin (triplet) appears, I'm
finding that line even more difficult to believe.

It seems to me that if the units are pretty much identical, you
ought to choose the vendor you want to deal with. I've never dealt
with PC-Brand (what a name), but DataWorld has been pretty good
to deal with.
