[Crossposted to comp.unix.xenix since this hint is good there too.] According to mark@intek01.UUCP (Mark McWiggins): >I'm running AT&T 3.2.1 with the Everex tape driver from Enix installed. >There's apparently a bug in the driver that causes it to hang on end-of >volume, because after coming to the end of a volume on either tar or >cpio, I have to shut the machine down & reboot to be able to write to another >tape. Get the afio program from the comp.sources.unix archives. Among many features with which it renders cpio obsolete, is this one: -s size Specify volume size. When this many bytes are written, the output volume is closed and the user is prompted to insert a new volume. Afio: don't backup without it! -- You may redistribute this article only to those who may freely do likewise. Chip Salzenberg | <chip@ateng.com> or <uunet!ateng!chip> A T Engineering | Me?
