Hi,
I have a real simple question, probably one that has been asked
many times. I am upgrading hardware and software to Unix on a 386. My
system has 4096k of memory (that's what the BIOS shows when booting) but
both Unix and Xenix only show 3172k available.
When I don't have the memory card in (using only the memory on the
motherboard) the BIOS shows 1024k available but then they summary screen
show only 640k Base memory and 0k of extended. What happended to 384k ???
My configuration is:
25 mhz 386. Chips and Tech. chipset.
AMI BIOS.
1 megabyte memory on the motherboard
(3 meg on a card)
By the way, I get no error messages from the BIOS, the Xenix or Unix
boot. According to the setup program in ROM, the shadowing and interleaving
is turned off. If you can help figure out what is wrong please e-mail me a
