[comp.unix.i386] 386/ix 2.0.2 problems: NFS, uucp

jt@mentat.COM (Jerry Toporek) (08/23/89)

We recently upgraded our 386/ix system from 1.0.5 to 2.0.2 with somewhat
mixed results.

UUCP performance through our Telebit Trailblazer had been great under
1.0.5 but is lousy under 2.0.2, as described in recent discussion in
this group. We are persuing the suggestions that have been contributed.
Does anyone have any comments regarding the dropoff between these two
versions? Has the async driver changed significantly for the worse?

We have also tried to use NFS for the first time under 2.0.2. With
386/ix as the server and our Sun 4/110 as the client, it works fine,
as long as you can stay amused doing cd's and ls's. When we try
doing a compilation, it quickly hangs and eventually reports:

NFS write failed for server ..name..: RPC timed out

We tried killing the biod's on the Sun, but this didn't help.

Has anyone used 2.0.2 NFS as a server with any success?

thanks for any suggestions.
