Linkoping University Sweden Keywords: We have a serious problem, we have purchased a SONY opto-magnetic disk drive with SCSI interface and are now trying to run it from 386ix. It is not necessary to use the filesystem but we do need to be able to write (and read) chunks of data on the disks. The SONY drives are the OEM version, with a separate controller board and drive (SMO D501 and SMO C501). We tried several SCSI controllers (WD and Adaptec) but none are even able to find the SONY drive on the SCSI bus. Is there anyone who has written a driver for the SONY drives and encountered similar problems? If so, is the driver for sale or possibly in the public domain? Is there anyone who can advise us what the problem might be. Or does anyone have a suggestion on who to ask for help, the Swedish 386ix representative is not capable for this type of support. Please! -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Torbjorn Kronander tobbe@isy.liu.se Dept. of EE Linkoping University Sweden ph +46 13 28 22 07
