[comp.unix.i386] X servers for DGIS or TIGA compatible Graphics Boards

tiwary@hpnmdla.HP.COM (Ashutosh Tiwary) (12/02/89)

Does 386/ix or any other 386 Unix vendor have any X servers for DGIS or
TIGA compatible Hi-res Graphics boards. It sounds like one should be
able to write just one server for each standard which should run on a
bunch of compatible boards. Or, am I missing something. Any one have one
in the works.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Graphic Software Systems (Beaverton, Oregon, no, I don't have phone
number here in my office) offers GSS/386 for ISC 2.0.2. I use it on a
NEC MVA 1024 DGIS compatible card. I don't know a lot about the X
server; maybe it is customized only to DGIS and the MVA 1024. But it
does seem to work.

The current issue (Fall 1989) of Pixel Perspectives, TI's free newsletter
for their graphics products, gives a list of the companies known to be
developing X Windows System products based on the TMS340 family. Only
Advanced Graphics Engineering specifically mentions TIGA in a short
product announcement.

Control Systems is shipping X11R3 server under ISC 2.0.[12] now.
AGE did the port for us, and it's a nice one. Works with our TI 34010
boards, either 1Kx768 or 1280x1024, 4 or 8 bits deep (16 or 256
colors).

More info, call the 800 number; 1-800-826-4281, ask for Artist Graphics
Sales.
