Our 78 Accord hesitates under acceleration and sometimes stalls out under deceleration. Revving the engine and slipping the clutch allows one to pull away smoothly. The problem is most pronounced when the car has thoroughly warmed up. There is also missing at about 2200 rpm and a descent of mileage to around 25 highway (from 35). A standard tune has been done, and this is a rebuilt carb. One mechanic thinks it is a malfunctioning accelerator pump. I think he may be thinking of only one symptom. Anyone got any ideas for repairs or for diagnostic procedures. What about locating another rebuilt carb and making a transplant? Anyone know any sources in the western suburbs of Chi area?

If it is "EGR'ing" at low rpm's when it's not supposed to, it could produce the symptoms you describe. Get a service manual or a good Honda mechanic to do the troubleshooting. Good luck.
