[comp.unix.i386] packdisk utility questions about functionality to be added.

pb@idca.tds.PHILIPS.nl (Peter Brouwer) (12/21/89)

I have been looking into the sources of fsanalyze and packdisk. One thing
I noticed was that fsanalyze uses the gap and sectors/cylinder info from
the superblock.
Packdisk does'nt bother at all about this. So when packdisk has been used
on a disk(partition) all blocks are order sequentialy.
Has anybody already corrected the sources for this?
An other option that might be usefull is finding out the optimal gap and
using that value to optimise the filesystem.
Who did do some work in the area already?
