Greetings, I am trying to find out whether or not the Read Ahead Cache on the 2322B ESDI controller can be used with AT&T Unix V3.2? I have a 2322B/Maxtor 4380E hard drive combo. The 2322B is capable of utilizing a read-ahead cache by removing J2-5 on my rev of the board. Does anyone in netland have experience with this controller and 386 Unix? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks... -- Steven C. Neighorn !tektronix!{psueea, nosun, ogicse}!qiclab!neighorn Sun Microsystems, Inc. The read ahead cache cannot be used with *ANY* version of UNIX/XENIX/Novell. We are looking into what the problem may be, but do not have an answer yet. Roy, what do you think the problem is, are we living with a time bomb??? I am really curious about this, as the ACB2322B is the only ESDI controller I have been using that has been relatively trouble free. Really ? I am running the Adaptec 2322B-8 hooked up to my Miniscribe 9380E, and haven't had *any* problems since I swapped out my unsupported DTC controller and put in the Adaptec. The read ahead cache is enabled. If the Adaptec *doesn't* work under UNIX with the read ahead cache enabled, what sorts of problems/errors does it cause ? BTW, I am running ISC 2.0.2 on a 33Mhz w/32k SRAM cache.
