I'm new to net.auto, so please forgive me if this has been discussed before... I'm shopping for a new car, and two of the prime choices for me are the Rabbit GTI and the Mitsubishi Cordia Turbo. One point in favor of the Rabbit is the availability of after-market wheels for it; in fact one can replace the 14" wheels and their 60-series tires with 15" wheels and 50-series tires. Both the Rabbit and the Cordia come with "J"-type wheels. I have a couple of questions. First, are all "J"-type wheels of the same size interchangeable? That is, will any 13x5J wheel be switchable with any other? Second, is it generally possible to put 14-inch wheels and 60-series tires or 15-inch wheels and 50-series tires on a car which has 13-inch wheels and 70-series tires (given that all the wheels are "J"-type)? Does this question make sense? Finally, if someone could give an informed discussion of unsprung weight and how it affects handling, I would appreciate it.
