I'm looking for recommendations for a grey-scale monitor for 386/AT boxes running X11R3 on a Super VGA. The monitor I want would have the following characteristics: - Multisync - At least 800x600 (Super VGA) resolution, ideally 1024x768 - Absolutely razor sharp, no blooming, no flicker, straight vertical lines must be *straight*, etc. I'm presently using an NEC Multisync 2A color monitor; while the colors are fun for mandrills and dragons and such, for actual work it really bothers my eyes. I've looked at the big, expensive HP and DEC workstation color monitors and I wouldn't want to stare at them all day either. It seems that only a grey-scale display can product the kind of clarity and contrast I require. I saw a monochrome display on an IBM RT and I thought it was excellent, but unfortunately it was monochrome, not grey scale. Does the monitor I describe exist anywhere? -- Larry Campbell The Boston Software Works, Inc. campbell@redsox.bsw.com 120 Fulton Street wjh12!redsox!campbell Boston, MA 02109
