[comp.unix.i386] HST setup for ix/386

paine@fungus.enet.dec.com (Willy Paine) (03/11/90)

I just add another phone line and I am still asking same questions but I
dont get complete answer.

I would like to know how to set up HST in modem for /etc/getty. Also
please include gettydefs.  I have ix/386 2.0.2 Update X5.

If you don't know how to print out of HST S-registers, use
cu -l tty00 | tee hst.output

I am still very anxious to get HST to work with getty.

Thank you for your time.

willy

Ok - nram:

ok, now /etc/inittab

Now - I am using a Computone Intelliport, and here is my /etc/ic_control file:
Note** ttyi00 and ttyi01 are the V-Series which are locked at 9600 baud since
        they don't want to work on a regular basis with them locked at 19200.
        The other two ports are the HST and PEP modems.

ttyi00:
buffers:
receive%=50
communications:
baud=9600
stopbits=1
bits=8
parity=none
handshake=busyready
addcr=no

ttyi01:
        =ttyi00

ttyi02:
buffers:
receive%=50
communications:
baud=19200
stopbits=1
bits=8
parity=none
handshake=busyready
addcr=no

ttyi03:
	=ttyi02

hope this helps - larry

It is getting closer but I am getting garbage. It is not baudrate
problem but it looks like flow control problem. Sometime I can read
only one word and others are all garbage. My HST is older than HST Dual
Standard so what is the difference between HST DS or 14.4 and older HST.

Any ideas?

Yes - make sure you program the modem and right the registers to NRAM
at the SAME baud rate that you are locked the DTE between the modem
and the computer at. If not, you will get the problem you describe (or
at least I did).

Which AT commands? It sounds like &N? I set up 19200 in gettydefs.
Are there any more on setting baudrate?
