I'm hoping to find a super-macho 386 "transportable" that can run true UNIX (e.g. 386/ix, SCO 3.2), can accomodate maybe 8 MB of memory and 100 MB of disk, and has at least 1 16+-bit ISA bus slot so that I can run a serial ports card for terminals. I think the Toshiba 5200 may work, but I lack details on it (plus I'm still p*ssed at Toshiba for dropping their Developer program without warning). Zenith would be preferred if they have a machine that fits the bill (maybe the Turbosport 386e, another one which I lack specific details on). Email or post as appropriate. Followups to comp.unix.i386. Thanks in advance. -- Alan Denney # Informix # aland@informix.com # {pyramid|uunet}!infmx!aland "I'm a Prisoner of Funk, I've got a jukebox for a brain." - The BOBS

I have one which has a 386sx (my choice, I could have gotten a 386DX, but didn't want to spend the extra bucks). It has room for a 1/2 height hard disk(mine is 65MB, but you can get 150MB half heights), floppy disk, gas plasma display with ega monitor plug, 2 serial, 1 par, and two empty 16-bit slots. The mother board will accept upto 8 meg of memory. I bought mine for $2500 last year from Tangent Computer Inc(8002236677), and they did me well. The same sort of deal should be available at many mail order firms. -- Conor P. Cahill (703)430-9247 Virtual Technologies, Inc., uunet!virtech!cpcahil 46030 Manekin Plaza, Suite 160 Sterling, VA 22170
