[comp.unix.i386] adaptex files

Hello,
Does anyone know if adaptex has a newer version of the scsi utility programs?
Specifically, I need one that works on cdc 94161-155 model. The version I
downloaded from there (thanks to Roy Neese for supplying those programs) does
not work. It can't do low-level format, and said no on-disk buffer is
available. I think all these are due to the program seeing the drive as a
94161-9.
BTW, is there any commercial/pd software that will do similar things (format,
access scsi code page, turn on on-disk buffer...)? How about SpeedStor and
Disk Manager?
Also, the adaptec 1542a installation guide mentioned that you need a software
driver to use the scsi drive as the third drive, and to support tape drives.
Now the question is, where can I get it? Is it at adaptex? or do I have to
purchase it from adaptec?

  Thanks.

It should be able to do the low-level format. I just did it. What error do
you get? The reason the program complains about the lack of an on-disk buffer
is the Wren III drive does not have read ahead ability. What version do you
have of SCSICNTL.EXE? The current version is 4.8.

If you want more than 2 HD's for DOS, you will need to get the ASW-1410
package. It is available from Anthem, Wyle Labs, or Hamilton-Avnet.
