Hello. I am trying to compile TeX under Interactive 386/ix, v. 2.0.2, and I am getting a strange error. (386/ix is supposed to be a SysVR3.2 UNIX). First, the version data: TeX 2.95, tangle 2.9, plain.tex 2.94. Anyway, I took the README file's advice and decided to go for the Web-to-C approach. I told site.h a little bit about myself, making sure we both understood from the outset that I'm an admitted SYSV type. Then I kept most of the other defaults and let fly with 'make all'. After the usual miscellaneous glitches and fixes I ran into a seemingly immovable object: Assembler: itex.c aline 123 : syntax error This occurred while the make was in the ./tex82/ctex subdirectory, and trying to compile the machine-generated itex.c. The error seems to be happening after the compiler passes all through the file, judging by the warning messages that come out before the error (it says a few lines are not reached). So there it is...I haven't any idea what is going on. Lint'ing itex.c didn't tell me anything obvious, although lint does bark quite a bit about the file. Does anybody know what is going wrong, and what I should do? Has anyone else built TeX under 386/ix? Do I need another version? Can I use cc, or do I have to get and install gcc? Thanks for any advice/flames/etc. -- Dan Mocsny Snail: Internet: dmocsny@minerva.che.uc.edu Dept. of Chemical Engng.
