a few words about all this unix.sco voting crapola. first, Mr. Da Silva and others keep ranting about how SCO Unix is no different than other 386 unixes. this is bullshit. the open desktop as well as other SCO-unixisms are indeed different from other ATTish System 5ish 386 unixes. others have alleged that SCO Unix doesn't work. this is also bullshit. SCO Unix works. there are some bizarrities with its X-server for VGA, as well as other OS 'features', such as SCO's security-paranoid-mode. these are precisely the type of bizarrities that might be discussed in an sco.only group. why would other unix users care about the details of SCO's x-server, or their compatible displays and x-servers, or why SCO won't allow two character usernames? i was undecided about how to vote until recently. one of the factors which contributed to my "yes" vote was the intensely silly religious-war attitude of many of the anti-comp.unix.sco people. silly silly silly. just vote yes, and decide whether or not to read the group based on the merits of the issues discussed there, and your interest in SCO Unix. thanks for your time, and have a pleasantly C2 secure day. -- /* eli@spdcc.com */ /* */ /* 617 932 5598 -- call anytime, it's voice mail */ /* 508 671 7447 -- computerfax -- feel free to send junk fax*/
