Various people have mentioned their trials and tribulation with mice. I would like to add mine... I have one of the first Microshaft mice, sold approx. 5 or 6 years ago. It is a bus mouse, this was before the serial mice were even available. I spent days trying to get the mouse to work with SCO UNIX 3.2. While working on it I had tested the mouse under DOS, suddenly it started working under UNIX. I was mystified, but somewhat pleased. I was able to use it under VP/ix with no problem, everything was fine. Until I had to reset the machine and reboot. The mouse stopped working. I was at a loss to make it work again until I woke up in the middle of the night a week or so later... I had initialized something while in DOS! My start up procedure is now boot DOS via floppy, load mouse driver, ctrl-alt-del, remove floppy, boot unix... One other tidbit... check the intterupt on the mouse. Mine was originally IRQ1 (I think), now it is IRQ5. -- joe@proto.uucp uunet!proto!joe FAX: 208-263-8772
