I just received a brochure announcing ESIX rev D. Here is a quick overview of what they are offering. Sorry, no pricing. Enhancements in the Kernel and Base System - ESIX Fast File System - uses 4k-byte and 8k-byte blocks as units of I/O operations vs 1k-byte used in standard System V. During installation user has a choice of FFS or System V. ESIX SCSI Driver Interfaces (SDI) SDI adopted as standard for SCSI interface. Tape Driver Console Driver Enhancements to the ESIX Graphical Environment - Super VGA support - vga to 256 colors New display driver - increases performance of the X-window system High Resolution Monchrome Support - provides both server and Driver to support the Everex Ultragraphics card Microsoft Serial Mouse support X-window Scrolling Speed Improvement - a 55% increase in jump scroll and a 35% increase in smooth scroll mode More super VGA support - Genoa VGA added to list of supported vga cards New Features in Networking Environment SLIP - the serial link enables ESIX to function as a WAN New 16 bit Ethernet Driver - added to support Everex's 16 bit Ethernet Card Ethernet MultiLan support - two Ethernet cards of the same model can be supported on one system Networking Gateway and Subset Support New Networking Commands and Daemons - Route, mkhost, supconfig, and routed have been incorporated ESIX Network File Sharing Yellow Pages - a licensed implementation from SUN Microsystems.
