[comp.unix.i386] FIXED inability to unmount /usr

jmcook@jorel.apldmt.com (joel m. cook) (06/13/90)

Thanks to all those who responded to my query concerning my
inability to umount /usr. It was the fact that the accounting
had been turned on somewhere in the distant past and never turned
off. When I destroyed and restored the root filesystem, the
files in /etc/rc2.d and /etc/rc0.d used to control it were NOT
restored. Apparently once accounting's enabled, it's enabled
through any number of reboots (at least that's how it behaved
on my system)? In any event, the problem has been taken care
of and I can shut down without fsck'ing /usr/ on reboot!
