Actually, there is a first party DMA test in the BIOS of the 154xA board
and later.  It is located at dc00:9.  If the system passes this test,
then you have a very good chnace that first party DMA will work in that
system.  If not, then the adapter will not function in that system.  I
do not have any information on the NCR machine, but would like to hear
if this test passes or fails.  I will then include it in my machine data
base on adaptex.
First party DMA refers to the fact that the 154x board is a bus master and
uses it's own DMA for all data transfers.  It is a high speed DMA capable
of supporting 10MBytes/sec.  Default is 5MBytes/sec.  It is programmable
in 50ns increments for both read and write independent on each other.
