[comp.unix.i386] ESIX Questions

phil@lindy.Stanford.EDU (Phillip Lee) (02/07/90)

I have couple of questions concerning with ESIX and I wonder if
anyone out there would have experience/answer to them.

	1) Which 1:1 RLL controller is supported on ESIX rev C ?
Anyone have experience with a DTC 7287 RLL or WD 1:1 RLL ?
Does anyone have problems connecting two (2) RLL drives on one
		controller?
Is it possible to have a MFM and a RLL controller on ESIX ?

	2) I know that Orchid Prodesigner 512K at 1024x768 is supported on
ESIX but does it run on interlace or non interlaced mode ?
	        Does it flicker ?

	3) Can I have both V-7 VRAM at 800x600 and an Orchid Prodesigner at
1024x768 on the same system with ESIX X window ?
Does ESIX X window support any res at 256 colors ?

	4) When is rev D and system V ver 4 available and how much will
		it cost ?

Well, it is more than couple of questions and I am sure alot of
ESIX owner would like to know the same things. I will post a summary to
usenet. Thanks in advance. Phil

We officaly do not support any RRL controlers. We do know that some people
are using the RRL WD1006 and some are using the Adaptec. We have not tested
these with enough diffrent brand and type of drives to give them support.

The only combinations of drive controllers that work with ESIX are:
SCSI with st506 and SCSI with ESDI.

We support both interlaced and non-interlaced with this card.

We do NOT support two vidio cards in one system.

256 color X is being worked on, but if it is too slow on non-smart vidio
cards it may not see a production.

Just for the record, I am running ESIX (rev C) with the WD1006 RLL card. But
the funny part is, that when I read the documentation, I found that the ESIX
manuals do state, unequivocally, that ESIX does support RLL.

Chewey, get us outta here!

Two questions for ESIX users:

1) Does ESIX support RLL controllers? If so, what are the procedures for
formatting the hard disk to use RLL?

2) Does ESIX support monochrome VGA under X-Windows?

3) Thanks for the info.
