Subject: Coherent incompatibilities and other woes... I recently purchased Mark Williams Co., Coherent for my 386/25. There seems to be a compatability problem with my hard drive. It's a Microscience MV7100 series 110meg drive with an integrated AT controller. We've called Mark Williams and Microscience. Coherent supports only MFM and RLL controlers, anyway to get mine to work? The techie at MW said they were having few similar problems but they couldn't duplicate the problem in house. Anyone out there have similar problems? If so, did you get any more information out of them than I did? Second question: If worse comes to worse and there's no way of getting it to work, what else is out there for affordable (<$500) UNIX systems? I can't afford to spring $1000-1500 on AT&T or Berkley until next summer, but I'd like to get SOME sort of Unix up & running before I go back to school in January. Any advice? Thanks. Please send any/all responses to CDA0048@applelink.apple.com , as this is being posted for me by a friend. And forgive me if this subject has been covered; I don't get to read this group very often. -- Marty Ward, Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia, CANADA E-mail: 860099w@AcadiaU.CA UUCP: {uunet|watmath|utai|garfield}!cs.dal.ca!aucs!860099w -just say "No" to MS-DOS
