I've recently taken a plunge into i386 and decided to do some device driver development. This driver will be for a device on the SCSI bus. It appears that Interactive uses their own whiz-bang HPDD, a SCSI controller driver, and a third device driver (the one I want to write) to talk to a given SCSI device. I searched the documentation and couldn't find any info on how to interface to the routines that are already there (HPDD and aha1540). The description of the HPDD sounds great (using it would minimize my work) -- but, where's the docs?? The Integrated Software Development Guide refers to a "Unix System V/386 Release 3 Block and Character Interface Device Driver Reference Manual", but I'm not sure this would help since the HPDD is added by ISC. And besides, AT&T wanted $100 dollars for this book, and $200 its companion Development Guide !!! **************************************************************************** Brad Greer Micro Support Group University of Washington INTERNET: brad@cac.washington.edu One Parrington Hall DC-11 Seattle, WA 98195 TELEPHONE: (206) 685-3311 ****************************************************************************

They are fairly well written, at least by AT&T standards, and are essential for writing device drivers for V/386 unless you have a lot of time to hack around. Unfortunately, they will be of no help in working with the HPDD since HPDD is an ISC proprietary enhancement. You'll have to get what you can from ISC.
