As a good rule of thumb, don't buy American if you want to avoid sloppy quality and breakdown hassles. This includes "foreign" cars made in America (Rabbit, Accord, etc.). It seems that anything the American automobile labor/management mentality gets its hands on turns to shit. Case in point: The U.S.-made Honda Accord has 21% more warranty problems than the identical car made in Japan for the American market. And everyone knows what happened to VW after they started making cars in this country. Yup, quality went down; prices went up.
