SUMMARY of contacts for ESIX: from chandler@beagle.UUCP (Jim Chandler) Try Marshall Saari at Typetronics in Pheonix. His number is 602-274-7253 from mars@ixos.de (Martin Stein) Try MicroMuse Micro/IX in Marlboro, MA. 508-460-0960. I bought my Esix there, and i am satisfied. They even shipped to Germany. from uunet!zardoz!everex!jde (Jeff Ellis) Call 800-821-0806 x3749 from segpc!seg@vicom.com (scott e. garfinkle) One of the software companies that advertises in _Computer Languages_ or _DDJ_, I can't remember which (Programmer's Workshop? something like that) sells Esix for $595 for a two user license versus the usual $625. I presume that they have a similar discount on other Esix licenses/products. from {rutgers|ames}!cs.utexas.edu!romp!rancor!bob (Bob Willcox) Don't have an address for ESIX, but phone # is: (415) 683-3749 I bought my copy from: Technology Resource Center 7157-7159 Beverly Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90036 (800) 422-4904 I paid $795 for unlimited users version (no idea what 2 user version might have been). This is not much of a discount from ESIX's adver- tized $825, though. In fact, with shipping, I paid $825 :-(. Be certain that you get Revision D. Upgrade from C to D if you *just* bought C is $65 (or $59, I got both conflicting quotes from TRC & ESIX respectively, and had to pay the higher) plus shipping. from hsm@icc.com (Hadi Mettawa) Call Jerry Wallace at 1 (800) 888 2983. I did get my copy and update from him. from Joy Correa <joyco@uhccux.uhcc.Hawaii.Edu> My name is Frank Godek and I am with a small Honolulu-based firm called Integral Software Engineering. My firm is the sole ESIX reseller in Hawaii but, by virtue of that position, I can answer one of your questions: yes, there are ESIX resellers out there. As for pricing, I imagine that some resellers (particularly ones who do high volume business) can give some discounts on the ESIX packages. The margins given by ESIX aren't great so we generally don't discount the software (unless you are buying multiple copies) but we do discount the additional docs if you want them. The ESIX suggested retail is pretty good if you consider that you get a develop- ment system and X thrown in to the package. We run ESIX (we're all tech types here -- mostly with Berzerkeley backgrounds) in house and all of us have been rather pleased with it and with the support that we have been getting from ESIX. Sometimes things are a little tricky to start up but once you figure out what to do to make something work, it works just fine. If you call ESIX (415-683-3749), I'm sure they can give you the name of a reseller who is close to you. I know they are willing to provide such service because we have gotten calls from clients who were told by ESIX to call us. If for some reason you can't get ESIX locally, you can reach us by mailing to: joyco@uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu (the account I'm sending this from) or godek@isshi.pegasus.com (I don't have a news feed on this machine) or, if you want to call us: (808) 955-2400. We are negotiable and then you can say your ESIX came all the way from Hawaii. 8-) -- Bill Heiser Work: heiser@tdw201.ed.ray.com {decuac,necntc,uunet}!rayssd!tdw201!heiser Home: Bill.Heiser@f240.n322.z1.fidonet.org (Fidonet 1:322/240) The Think_Tank BBS (508)655-3848 1200/2400/9600-HST Other: 75106.2332@compuserve.com Other: heiser@world.std.com (Public Access Unix)
