Hi. I'm about to buy a 386sx board, by mail order from the US. This seems to be the far cheapest way to get a usable computer. I'd like to hear comments on where to get it from. Cheapes, best for $$$ and so on. The best so far seems to be $299, from First Computer systems, seen in the August number of Byte. Also is there other magazines I should be reading ? I bought an Intel 80287-10, few days ago, for 700 (seven hundred) real Dutch Florins. That's roughly 450 (fouw hunnerd!) US $$$ ! Ah, we poor Dutch ... small country ... sob ...

Look into the Computer Shopper from your local Walden Book store. And if you want a good computer for less money, the PC-Brand 386 16 mHz is a nice machine or you might want to look into others. - Greg

Gee, AMD is selling the 80C287-10 for $99.00 U.S. You can order one directly from AMD by calling a 1-800-xxx-xxxx number. I don't have the number with me now, but if you email me, I'll provide the number. Spread the word. - Steven Bartling email : bartling@mozart.amd.com Disclaimer : I hate myself, my wife hates me, my dogs hate me, and AMD hates me. None of the aforementioned ever believe a word I say, so why should you ? In other words, I don't speak for AMD and they don't speak for me. I just happen to work at AMD.
