[comp.unix.i386] SCO-Unix: "Authentication problems"

koe@kivax.UUCP (Diana Koehler) (08/24/90)

Hallo,

we have SCO UNIX V/386 Rel 3.2 (2 user).
The exact Rel. numbers (/tcb/perm) are:
       - dsmd 3.2.0f
       - ext 3.2.0d
       - inst 3.2.0f
       - rts 3.2.0e
       - sup.os 1.1.0d
       - unixos.UFA 3.2.0d
       - unixos.UFB 3.2.0b

We have problems with the authentication mechanism.
1. The command "passwd" cannot be executed.
If an existent user wants to changes his password he gets the following
   message:

    "password request denied:
reason: cannot access protected database entry"

If "root" wants to create a new user and wants to assign a password
to him (with sysadmsh) he gets the message:

     "Permission denied:
You are not allowed to execute passwd for the given user"
2. The command "df" cannot be executed.
If "root" executes "df" the following message appears:

"No authorization to create disk space"

Any help would be apreciate.
Thanks

Diana Koehler
