[comp.unix.i386] g++ binary for 386?

uucigj@swbatl.sbc.com (Greg Jensen - UCI - 5-3531) (08/24/90)

I am looking for a binary of g++ (1.37+) for ISC 386 2.0.2.  I have pulled
the sources for gcc and g++ down on my machine and finally got gcc to
compile thru stage 1 (it took SO long to get stage 1 to finish!) and have
been trying to get g++ to compile with no luck. I am at my wits end and
was hoping that someone out there who has it can make it available on one
of the anonymous ftp sites. The binary at sequent.kent.edu doesn't seem to
work on the above setup. This would save me some valuable time (and disk
space and hair, which is pretty sparse as it is). Thanks

We have finally gotten the problems worked out. I was able
to take a copy of g++ 1.37.2 beta and gcc 1.37.1 and get the
whole thing to compile. Some provisos: I used a modified
gas 1.36 which had COFF support added. There was a minor
mod to ASM_FLAGS in gcc and g++ to use the COFF feature.
With all this and config.gcc i386-sysv and config.g++ i386-sysv
everything worked. I did compile gcc with cc then gcc and finally
with gcc compiled with gcc before going on to g++.

Thanks to everyone who gave advice over the last bit of time.
