Earlier I reported that String.cc in libg++-1.36.3 would not compile under g++-1.36.3 running on a Sun 4, OS 4. I was mistaken: I had compiled but not yet installed g++-1.36.3; in fact, I was running g++-1.36.1. Profuse apologies...
