There has been plenty of complaining about 4WD drivers as of late, so as a 4WD owner, I would like to say a few things: Re: Jeep headlights. This is a point I must concede. I traded a Honda Prelude for the Jeep last year and I remember how bad those headlights were. I have mine checked periodically for proper adjustment and I turn my fog lights off if it is not stormy or foggy and I clean the lights a little less often in hopes I make your lives a little less miserable. All other complaints, I generally disregard. Regular car owners can be just as rude as those who drive Jeeps (and other 4WDs). Manners are strictly driver-dependent and I have had jerks in regular cars almost run me off the road as often as 4WD drivers. (End of dissertation). The reason for this note is one such group of regular car drivers: We had a snowstorm in New England today (the preceding statement is for the benefit of non New Englanders) and twice I got to the base of a hill and had to wait for people without snow tires to slip and slide sideways up the hill. This really burns me. People who drive around without the proper tires are a threat to me. What if the guy without snow tires comes around a bend in a storm a little fast and loses control. I'm liable to pay for this guy's lack of consideration. I am interested in automobile safety and it annoys me to see people that careless. (end of annoyance). Driving brings me to another point: I am a road rallier. I do not rally off-road, but in on-road, Time- Speed-Distance (TSD) events. These are not races, but rather precision events. While sports cars most common participants, anything will do (even my Jeep) and anyone can rally. I am a member of a few local clubs and the New England Region Sports Car Club of America (NER/SCCA). This is really directed at some of you outside this region, but any response would be good. I am looking for information regarding rallies in other areas and just to engage in some knowledge sharing from ralliers elsewhere. Anyone wanting information regarding local events is welcome to contact me. (I guess this is as good a place as any to post this). I look forward to hearing from you.
