[pdx.general] HP-41C Parts Wanted

bill@videovax.tv.tek.com (William K. McFadden) (05/03/90)

Do you have any old HP-41C stuff lying around gathering dust? Then maybe you
can help me. I am in need of the following:

1. A quad memory module. This is the module that turns a 41C into a 41CV. I'd
be willing to pay $25 for one.

2. A thermal printhead for the HP82143A printer. This was the original printer
for the 41C. There was also an improved model that came out later (prints
barcodes), but it probably uses the same print head.

A little background on this one: My printer burned out one of the dots in
the printhead. I can replace the print head myself, but HP refuses to sell
me the part. Instead, they offered to replace it for $85 if I ship the
whole printer to them. This is not worth it because I can get an IR module
for $47 that will allow me to print on the new HP IR link printer (which I
am planning to buy anyway). What I'd like to find is a used printer or one
that is not working but has a good print head, and I'll be back in business.
Remember, I'd rather junk it if it's going to cost me more than $50 to fix.
(A shame, since I paid almost $400 for it originally.)

3. A friend has part of a 41C wand; he wants the other part. Of course, the
part he needs is the pencil (the part you hold). He already has the cable.
Let me know if you have this and want to get rid of it. I'll put him in
   touch with you.

Thanks.
