Here are the top ten cars of 1983 as determined by the car buying
population of America:
1. Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 331,179
2. Ford Escort 326,333
3. Chevy Cavalier 259,397
4. Chevy Caprice/Impala 238,930
5. Buick Regal 234,035
6. Oldsmobile 88 228,770
7. Honda Accord 222,137
8. NIssan Sentra 212,719
9. Olds Cutlass Ciera 191,720
10. Chevy Celebrity 180,627
As you may have guessed by now, this vote is really the car sales
statistics for 1983. It seems that buyers are splitting between
the older "big car" models and the new desigs. Many of these buyers
could be a two-car family with a large car for everybody-at-once trips
and a commuter car for mommy or daddy.
