		     RISC AND UNIX

"MORE MIPS; CHEAPER MIPS; NEVER TOO MANY!"

You are cordially invited to a talk by John R. Mashey, Vice President
Systems Technology, MIPS Computer Systems.

This talk discusses the RISC design process as well as the interesting
relationships between RISC and UNIX. This talk also examines current
trends in CPU design and offers some thoughts on the future profile
of the computing industry in the face of rapidly improving levels
of performance and cost/performance. CPU performance is not the only
important design area however, and other topics touched upon include:

+ What are the implications for applications and software development
    approaches?

+ In 1993, when we build an 800 Mips Cpu complex in a one-foot cube,
what will we do for I/O?

                * REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED *
