The University of Alaska Computer Network (UACN) has set up a
special BITNET username to which messages of thanks can be sent
to the volunteers working in the animal rescue centers and others
cleaning up Prince William Sound. The username is THANKS@ALASKA.

Messages are printed out and distributed to volunteer centers in
Valdez, Cordova, Seward, Homer, Kodiak and other communities
affected by the spill. It is amazing and wonderful how many
thoughtful messages have been arriving in the mailbox.

The THANKS account is managed by L.J. Evans, a part-time
instructor at Prince William Sound Community College and also a
volunteer at the Bird Rehabilitation Center in Valdez. We thank
L.J. for doing this and encourage you to send mail messages
directly to THANKS@ALASKA. For more information call the
University of Alaska Southeast, Academic Computing Center at 907
789-4521 or send mail message to JXJEM@ALASKA.
