Does anyone know of a source of information available electronically similar to Janes? What I need is a source of data that gives performance stats etc. of various pieces of military hardware. It would be nice if it also included a picture. A perfect example would be the data resident on a video disc with some software to drive it. It would be nice if it ran on a Sun or micro of the IBM or Mac flavor. Anyone know of such a beast (commercial or government) in production or experimental stages?? -Ray

I don't subscribe, but their ad material seems to show that it covers a wide range of military equipment, orders of battle, profiles on top officers, relevant news summaries and a summary of military terms and programs. Access seems to be via hierarchically organized menus. The database was designed to be accessed via modem over phone lines. Thus, I think it's only textual, no pictures. Technical content looks reasonable for the weapon descriptions. Apparently, there is a PC and mainframe version also.
