I see one major problem with this idea.  1/2 second after you release the
missle (reminder it is a heat seeking missle, which you said should be
programmed to ignore its locked-on target if it senses a stronger signal),
your tail pipe is only a few feet away from the missle's nose!  

What is to keep it from going up your own tail pipe?
