From: Jerry Harper <jharper%euroies.ucd.ie%CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU> Sunday's "Observer" had a story on the sinking of the Soviet 'mike' class sub off Norway in which the sub's maximum underwater speed was stated as 50 mph, faster than any torpedo in the NATO arsenal. However, the sub was also described as very noisy (easily detected in other words) and this counterbalance d the speed advantage. Is the cited speed accurate? It seems very fast. jharper@euroies.uucp Jerry Harper: Educational Research Centre, Dublin 9, Ireland.
