From: Richard Shu <rshu@ads.com> Amicicide (from the Latin, killing your friends) is the fancy name for the problem of friendly fire. LT COL Charles Shrader (USA) wrote a report on this for the Combat Studies Institute (Research Survey #1) entitled "Amicicide: The Problem of Friendly Fire in Modern War". On the cover is a DOD photo showing a Spitfire shot down by Allied AA guns in Italy during WWII. Combat Studies Institute (CSI) publications are available upon request by official users; others may obtain them from the U.S. Government Printing Office. A list of titles and prices can be obtained by writing to: Combat Studies Institute U.S. Army Command and General Staff College Ft. Leavenworth, KS 66027-6900 CSI reports are generally historical studies of ground combat from the perspective of doctrine. Their research reports are excellent if you're interested in military history as it pertains to doctrine. Richard Shu
