From: rcj@killer.Dallas.TX.US (Robert Johnson) Well, I just returned from the anual Carswell AFB airshow...Wow! it was quite impressive since I had never been on the base, and was quite supprised to note that they had a golf course on base! Is this common? Anyways, in the midst of watching the performances, most notably the F-18 (damn nice plane...) I was looking at the armory, and noticed the ~10 yard wide perimiter fencing around it. Inside there were what looked like radars of some sort. Are these doppler anti-personel radars? How effective are they? Also, is this the only means of protection the zone has, or do dogs patrol in there too? One other thing: Besides the one armored car, I saw no heavy armor...How well prepared are they for a heavy attack (I know, not real probable, but hey...)? Alos, on another note: Does the army protect the AFB's around the globe? How well does the AF and Army get along? Just a few questions, Robert P.S. I saw a static display of an A-10 Thunderbolt (Warthog), and was able to get up close and personal to the Avenger cannon...BIG GUN! -- | Robert C.
