Here's more numbers: '81 Chevy Citation: High - 34 45 -55mph cruise through norhtern mass. low - 23 winter city shuffle. avg. 29 mostly highway this past summer car is the 4 cyl. with a 4 speed. It may need a new oxygen sensor which would boost the mileage a bit which has dropped a lot since november but I haven't had this car over a winter yet. '72 Saab 99: avg 27mpg. mostly rural driving. Car was a fuel injection with slush drive. It also needed a new head gasket as mpg dropped to 23. '71 Saab 99: avg 29. High was a 32 when the timing had slipped and was ridiculously advanced. Dropped to 23 when the head warped. '78 diesel rabbit : 50mpg avg in rural/small town driving. '80 diesel rabbit 5 speed. 47mpg avg 57 on highway. Note: despite the extra gear, dad's 5 speed (which also American) always seemed slower than Mom's

I own a 1983 Ford Ranger diesel, on a 23 mile commute each way, during the week and farting around on weekends I very consistently get 33 mpg. Funny, that is what the EPA said! tektronix!tekig!david
