I would appreciate info on references to post-Korean War Soviet militiary
vehicles, in particular AFVs and APCs. Of interest would be basic
technical data, scale drawings, photos, and service evaluations (e.g.
in MidEast conflicts and Afghanistan).

Reply by another posting or email. I'll sumarize if there is
sufficient interest.

Thanks,

I am researching the Soviet military-- in particular the elite units of
the Soviet military. Of particular interest is the group called
Spetznaz (spell??).

In my preliminary research, I found out that these units practice
against living targets called "puppets." Is this true? What is known
about the formation, recruitment procedures, training, deployment, etc.?

I am not looking for classified info, only good publically available
sources of information, and, being a recent reader of this newsgroup, I
figured this would be a good place to start.

Also, one last question, having made it through Airborne and Ranger
training (among others), how would that compare to what the Soviets put
their elite units through.

I am preparing to run a game of Harpoon that will involve a simulation
of WWIII. In order to make the game more realistic, I am trying to
get a list of U.S. Navy vessels. I'm looking for the following
information: name, number, class. I'd also like a list of Soviet
vessels as well. I've already sent away to the Dept. of the Navy, but
I don't know if they'll respond to my request (it does seem a bit
unusual).
If anyone has such a list that they can e-mail, please contact
me via e-mail. If someone has it on paper, e-mail me and we can
arrange for photocopying and mailing.

		Thanks in advance.
