For those of you interested in the Navy, especially the modern Navy, this is a good organization to join. You've probably seen references by myself and others to "Proceedings", their monthly magazine. Full membership is restricted to Naval personnel, but civilians such as myself can become associate members. In addition to the magazine, you get a 20% discount on Naval Institute Press publications, which include enough excellent books to fill a wall with. In my case, the discount on books more than pays for the $27 annual membership fee. If you're interested, I (or any other member you may know) can send in your name, which gets you a nice letter from USNI begging you to join, a full description of their services, and a free copy of Proceedings to enjoy in your own home.
