From: ut-emx!walt.cc.utexas.edu!cyrius@cs.utexas.edu (Juan Chen) I just stumbled over this piece of information that may be of interest to some of you. From the Military Review, aug. 1986: The AH1W Supercobra to replace the AH1T SeaCobra. Also, the USMC plans to upgrade 37 AH1T to AH1W (I don't know if this was carried out). The AH1W features two T700-401 General Electric engines capable of producing 65% more power than its predecesor. These are engines specifically designed for use in harsh salt environments. The AH1W is armed with Rockwell laser guided Hellfire missile system, can carry two AIM9L sidewinders and has the capability of carrying the new lightweight Stinger missiles (in the works at the time this was published). The SuperCobra also has a new cockpit design. <insert standard diclaimer> ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Juan G.
