[sci.military] And now for something completely different...

From: military@att.att.com (Bill Thacker)

You have no doubt noticed a dramatic decrease in the number
of articles posted to sci.military; and readers of the mailing
list have been experiencing intermittent reception. Both
coincide with the recent change in mailers here on cbnews,
coupled with a rather serious illness on the part of that noble
box of silicon.

In light of these matters, and an unusually action-packed schedule
on my own part, I'm turning over the reins of sci.military to
one of our esteemed backup moderators, Carl Rigney, for an
undisclosed period (gee, I've been reading too many White House
press releases 8-) I'll probably take a break for 3-4 weeks or
so, to allow things to straighten out on cbnews and for my personal
life to settle down a bit. Hopefully, this will also get the
newsgroup back on firm footing, connectivity-wise.

The alias for the sci.military moderator will be changed, but I suggest
you send submissions directly to Carl at:

military@amdcad.amd.com

which will ensure speediest arrival and posting. I will continue to
maintain the mailing list from cbnews, so requests for addition/deletion,
or back-issues of the digest, should still be sent to
military-request@att.att.com.

An addition benefit of this switch will be for all of us to see how
Carl handles the group. I'm certain that each moderator has their
own style, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Carl deals with issues
that have confounded me from time to time; what I learn will help me
to improve my own handling of the group. Likewise, it will allow you,
the readers, to suggest changes in my methods based on his approach.
I anticipate that sci.military will be the better for the experience.

If you're all as understanding and open-minded with Carl as you have
been with me, I'm sure he'll have no trouble at all. Good luck, Carl !

Bill
