Extended warrantees that are sold by car dealers are sold only for one purpose: To pad the dealer's coffers with fat profits. My experiences have been that extended warranties have been that they never cover the things that are likely to break. My Dad's Plymouth Reliant had his alternator go bad at 1 year, 8,000 miles. As many of you know, Plymouth often says how their "5 year, 50,000 mile warranty" protects owners. This is the one of the reasons my dad bought the car. Well, you guessed it, the alternator ain't covered. Extended warranties on Japanese cars simply aren't needed in 99% of cases.
